Clan Douglas is an ancient family from the Scottish Lowlands taking its name from Douglas, South Lanarkshire, and thence spreading throughout Scotland. They were one of the most powerful families in Scotland, and in the 12th century were firmly settled in Lanarkshire. They took a prominent part in the Scottish War of Independence, under Sir William Wallace and Robert the Bruce.
It is best worn with a Navy or Charcoal Tweed jacket and waistcoat. If a Prince Charlie Jacket is preferred, then dark buttons are recommended with a matching belt buckle, sporran cantle and kilt pin.
